In online retail you have exactly 1.2 seconds to hold a buyer's attention before they keep scrolling. If the photo looks messy, the buyer subconsciously sees the brand as unprofessional. That is where the Ghost Mannequin technique comes in.
What exactly is Ghost Mannequin?
It is a process in which we photograph clothing on special modular mannequins and then remove the mannequin in advanced post-production. The result is a garment that looks as if an invisible person is wearing it, keeping its 3D shape, volume and cut.
Advantage #1: Clean Focus
No distractions from models, tattoos, or hairstyles. The buyer sees only what they pay for — the item.
Advantage #2: Fewer returns
When the inside of a garment is visible (collar, lining), the buyer has a better perception of quality and is less likely to return it.
Our workflow: Sony + Sigma precision
At KoFol Koncept studio, every piece of clothing goes through a strict protocol:
- ⚡ Steaming: Professional steam ironing removes every crease.
- ⚡ Styling: Using clips and pins to achieve perfect symmetry.
- ⚡ Optics: Sony ZV-E10 with Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for maximum fabric texture sharpness.
- ⚡ Merge: Combining multiple exposures for a perfect 3D collar effect.
The goal isn't just to photograph a t-shirt. The goal is for the buyer to feel the cotton texture through their phone screen.
If you run a web shop and want to raise your visual identity to the level of global brands, Ghost Mannequin is not a luxury — it's a standard.
